Historic Places

Located on the intersection of IN-127 and US-20, downtown Angola is rich in historic architecture.

Much of Angola’s historic commercial core is a part of the National Register of Historic Places, which was authorized and supported by Congress’s National Historic Preservation Act of 1966.

The Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology (DHPA) in Indiana maintains the State Historic Architectural and Archaeological Research Database (SHAARD). The SHAARD database is accessible online. SHAARD contains Indiana’s state register data, and also includes the Indiana properties and districts listed on the National Register.
